Groups and Workshops

Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Shared Space

  • Meeting: Thursdays 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm
  • Location: Multicultural Center (Room TBA)

This is a shared space for Asian, Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander-identifying students led by mental health interns from De Anza's Mental Health and Wellness Center.

The group will teach various skills and is focused on creating a safe and welcoming shared space. Come meet and connect with others while receiving support in maintaining physical and mental well-being!



Community Peer Program

Community Peer Program Flyer ScreenshotAre you open to a peer relationship and focused on wellness and recovery? Join the Community Peer Program to gain support and independence! This program is designed for individuals living with a mental health condition in Santa Clara County who seek to enhance their mental wellness through peer mentorship.

This program is for you if you:

  • Live in Santa Clara County
  • Want to thrive outside a hospital environment
  • Wish to be intentional about your future choices
  • Want to learn to manage your symptoms
  • Want to develop good coping strategies
  • Wish to learn from others living with mental health conditions
  • Want to find hope

Please note that our mentors are also working on their wellness, and this program is not intended as a daily conversation partner or caregiver respite service.

How to Join

Complete the program application and submit it in one of the following ways to receive a peer connector:

Creative Expressions Group

  • Meets every Tuesday beginning Oct 15 from 2 -3 p.m.
  • Location: RSS 202, Second Floor

Creative Expression Flyer ScreenshotJoin this supportive environment to build resilience and develop coping skills for anxiety and depression. The group focuses on helping participants practice and enhance emotional expression through various creative forms. Topics include academic stress, anxiety, culture, depression, future goals, family concerns, gender identity, life balance, loneliness, relationship stress, sexuality, and social anxiety. No prior experience is necessary!



LGBTQ+ Group

  • Meets on Thursdays: 2-3 p.m.
  • Location: Pride Center (Library 138)

This group is for those who may be questioning their sexual or gender identity and would like support, and for those who may feel clear in their identity and would like support navigating a cix/heteronormative atmosphere. The group will have a flexible structure and free food will help you explore and gain insight on such topics as

  • Academic stress
  • Anxiety
  • Culture
  • Depression
  • Family concerns
  • Future goals
  • Gender identity
  • Life balance
  • Loneliness
  • Microagressions
  • Relationship stress
  • Sexuality


Student Athlete Drop-In Space

  • Meets on Tuesdays from 1-2 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9-10 a.m.
  • Location: Athletics Department Room 41 F

Student Athlete Flyer ScreenshotThis is a supportive space where athletes can meet with an MHWC therapist to discuss if therapy is right for them.  All student-athletes are welcome. You can schedule an appointment by emailing Louise Ortiz at ortizlouise@deanza.edu, or drop in without an appointment. 

This space is not meant to provide therapy services but to introduce the process to athletes who may benefit from seeing a therapist on campus.
