Honors and Achievements

Student Art Awards

sculpture of young woman with head scarf and pearl earringSix De Anza students have been selected for awards in this year’s Student Art Show at the Euphrat Museum of Art. You can still catch the exhibition this week before it ends this Thursday, June 6.

The award-winning entries can be seen at the Euphrat and on the exhibition webpage:

  • Ceramics: Linda Baker, “Ghost Birds”
  • Drawing: Frank Yung-Fong Tang, “Self-Portrait”
  • Mixed Media: Fernanda Loreto, “Mi Ranchito”
  • Painting: Eunyoung Park, “Upcycled”
  • Photography: Elsa X Núñez, “Beautiful Strength”
  • Sculpture: Anna Novitska, “Girl with the Pearl Earring” (pictured above)

You can also view the exhibition during the First Thursday spoken-word event at the Euphrat – with performances by the 4 Elements hip-hop group – this Thursday, June 6, from 5:30-7 p.m.


Graduation Reminders

De Anza will hold its 57th annual commencement on Saturday, June 29, beginning at 3 p.m. in the Santa Clara Convention Center. Be sure to check deanza.edu/graduation for the latest updates and announcements.

Everyone is invited to submit digital Congrats Cards for a favorite grad, or the entire Class of 2024.

If you're planning to graduate this year, please remember these deadlines:

There is no deadline to participate in the commencement ceremony, but you must apply for your degree by June 28 in order to have it awarded for spring quarter.

Celebrations Begin This Week

Many programs and Learning Communities are hosting end-of-year activities to honor and celebrate their students. Here are some coming up:

  • De Anza College Promise – Tuesday, June 4 (11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and 1:30-4 p.m.) and Wednesday, June 5 (10 a.m.-noon and 12:30-3 p.m.): students can stop by for snacks and pick up graduation leis, RSS 127
  • Transfer Achievement Celebration – Wednesday, June 5, 6:30-8 p.m., VPAC
  • APASA, IMPACT AAPI, ASAM Student Achievement Ceremony – Thursday, June 6, 5:30-7 p.m., Conference Rooms A&B
  • Student Success and Retention Services End-of-Year Celebration – Friday, June 7, 6-9 p.m., Campus Center Dining Hall
  • International Student Programs End-of-Year Celebration – Monday, June 10, 1-3 p.m., Conference Rooms A&B
