Applying for the Bachelor's Program

Program Starts in Fall 2025!

Check back soon for details about how to apply.

Admission Requirements

Students who enter this bachelor's degree program must have an associate degree in Automotive Technology from a regionally accredited higher education institution, or must be able to finish the requirements for an associate degree during the first year of the bachelor's degree program.

Here are the steps to apply for the program. Please note the admission requirements described above.

Apply Online to De Anza

First, you must submit the online application for admission to De Anza College.

The Apply Now button will take you to OpenCCC, an online application system used by De Anza and other California community colleges.
  • Please allow 7-10 working days for processing your application.
  • If you haven't received a "welcome" email from De Anza with your 8-digit student ID number (CWID) after 10 business days, you can email daapplications@deanza.edu for assistance.
(When you email, be sure to include your first and last name, date of birth, the term you applied for and your application confirmation number.)
  • The "welcome" email will contain your student ID number and other important information.

You don't need to submit a new application if you are taking classes at De Anza or Foothill during the most recent full quarter before you plan to begin the bachelor's program.

  • You do need to submit a new application if you were away from De Anza or Foothill for at least one quarter (not including summer session), even if you took classes at one of the colleges in the past.
  • If you took classes in spring quarter but not during summer session, you don't need to re-apply.

Set Up Your MyPortal Account

After you submit your application to De Anza College, you will receive a "welcome" email containing your 8-digit student ID number, known as a Campuswide ID or CWID

You will use this number to log in to MyPortal, the online gateway to De Anza's student registration and records system.

  • Go to https://myportal.fhda.edu
  • For your Campuswide ID (CWID), enter your eight-digit De Anza College student identification number.
  • For your Password, enter your date of birth in eight-digit format, like this: MMDDYYYY.
    (Example: March 5, 1998 would be 03051998)
  • You will be prompted to create your new password – using letters and numbers, but no special characters. It's important to remember this password, especially if you don't have a Social Security Number.
  • Keep your CWID and password safe! You will use them for paying fees, checking your financial aid status, viewing your grades and other important functions.

Submit College Transcripts

If you are entering this program from another college, you will need to submit an official transcript to be evaluated for academic credit. To be considered "official," the transcript must be sent directly to De Anza by your previous college. This can be done in one of two ways:

  • It can be delivered electronically. Be sure to tell your previous college that the transcript should be sent to De Anza College in Cupertino, California. If the school asks you for an email address, please tell them to use evaluationsda@deanza.edu
  • It can be delivered in a sealed envelope, by mail or in person, to our Admissions and Records' Evaluation Unit, located on the first floor of the Registration and Student Services (RSS) Building. This document must be prepared by your previous institution and delivered in an envelope that was sealed by your previous institution. If the envelope has been opened or tampered with, it will be considered unofficial and will be rejected. If you choose this method, the sealed envelope should be mailed or delivered to:
De Anza College
Admissions and Records – Evaluations Unit
21250 Stevens Creek Blvd.
Cupertino, CA 95014
