You may not have to take a prerequisite or corequisite class at De Anza if you can satisfy certain criteria for "clearing" the requirement. You'll find a list of those criteria below.
|Prerequisites||Previous background or course completions required for entry into another course.
|Corequisites||A course that may be completed prior to enrolling in a course or taken concurrently.|
|Advisories||A recommended but not required course that will help you be successful in a class.|
Prerequisite clearance requests can take up to 10 business days to process. You will be notified via email when your request has been reviewed.
Criteria for Clearance
Note: While the information below applies to most academic subjects, there are separate processes for Computer Information Systems and World Languages. You can find instructions for clearing a prerequisite for a course in those programs by visiting the following webpages
For all other subjects, please use the following instructions
College Course (only US coursework)
Submit unofficial transcripts to firstname.lastname@example.org along with a completed prerequisite clearance form. Forms and unofficial transcripts may also be submitted to the Admissions and Records front desk.
Please note that only lower division college level coursework will be used. Any upper division or graduate level material will be ignored. You may speak directly to the respective academic division who may be able to use the coursework to clear you.

College Course (Outside the US)
We do not accept foreign coursework to clear prerequisites.
