A Guided Pathways Team Core Meeting was held on December 7, 2021 via Zoom.

Call to Order:  

The meeting was called to order at 2:00 p.m. by Kim Palmore, co-coordinator of Guided Pathways.

Update on accomplishments 2021-2022: 

Kim Palmore shared a PowerPoint with a quarter recap including the Guided Pathways vision, mission, and victories. These core values are a reminder of the work we do with equity being at the forefront. Over 300 employees from 120 areas, engaged in program development, working to build and launch four teams made up of 56 employees, aimed at strengthening student success and college equity goals. The teams promote intersectional employee professional development in leadership and innovation through hands on experience in the program. By creating six, physical Village spaces, Guided Pathways aims to enhance access to services, community, and collaboration for both students and employees. There are over 13,000 students currently enrolled in Villages.

The Mapping project has been completed by more than 75 content experts and counselors creating 157 Program maps and 55 Transfer maps that are now available to students. Through outreach, data collection, and student conferences, the Focus Group has been able to collect and provide information on other student-centered programs. Furthermore, feedback groups gathered to determine onboarding improvement processes. The S3R Team promoted their equity intervention via web, email, and video communication for Covid grade changes.​ They also passed an initiative for indoor, and open Zoom spaces for student use​. The Intersegmental Team hosted a Mini Retreat with 8 high schools represented that focused on how to better serve incoming students​. Over 1000 students played the #VillageConnect scavenger hunt game last month. The correct answer was “Join your Village to DISCOVER, CONNECT, and SUCCEED. Drawing from those who got the correct answer, one student in each Village was randomly selected to win a Microsoft Surface Pro 7. Students were also surveyed, soliciting ideas for strengthening Villages.

Communications has supported Guided Pathways in making videos for all occasions, as well as building the Guided Pathways webpages, releasing Village information, and coordinated Zoom space maps and publicity. In addition, College Operations has offered strategic funding ideas and furnishing ideas for the Village spaces​. They have ordered tables for outdoor Zoom spaces and identified outdoor spaces with easy access to electricity​. Tina Lockwood walked the campus with a dozen Village representatives to identify potential Village spaces, and later with two of Guided Pathways representatives to identify Zoom spaces. Guided Pathways intersects with all other programs on campus, including instructional departments, counseling, support services, and administrative groups. Guided Pathways will be featured in two strategic planning workshops including Supporting Cultural & Structural Equity Through Guided Pathways and Ensuring Learning Through Student Success Factors. In addition, Guided Pathways now has seats in multiple committees including the College Planning Committee and the Strengthening Institution Program Grant Committee. 

Guided Pathways Villages have been integrated as a Resource Card into De Anza’s existing (My Path) program. Classified professionals will familiarize themselves with the Villages, strategizing about how to use them to enhance their work with students​. One more general lead has been hired, Sal Breiter will be staring in the winter quarter. There are many other projects and initiatives currently in the works. All Guided Pathways Innovations serve target populations. To that end, Guided Pathways is committed to engaging in equity projects.
