Student Ambassadors must qualify for federal work-study funds. They are responsible for maintaining centers, supporting visitors, and running hangout events.

Job duties will include, but not limited to the following:

• Exhibit Professional Behavior in the Workplace: Adhere to professional communication etiquette, answering emails and texts from Villages Centers Employees promptly.
• Be On Time: Promptly arrive for your assigned shift to ensure the Villages Center is prepared to welcome students. If missing work or being late, communicate with Nina at vannina@deanza.edu in advance.
• Sign Into/Out the System/Computer: Record your attendance to maintain accurate records of Student Ambassadors presence and engagement.
• Open Blinds (if applicable): Depending on the Villages, let natural light in to create an inviting and well-lit environment.
• Turn On/Off the Lights: Illuminate the space to enhance visibility and create a welcoming atmosphere. If you are the last person on the schedule, turn off the lights and make sure that the Villages Center is clean and organized. Turn on/off lights including LED fairy lights.
• Air Purifier: If you are the first person, activate the air purifier to ensure a clean and fresh atmosphere within the Villages Center. If you are the last person, turn it off.
• Wipe Tables: Maintain a tidy space by wiping down tables as needed.
• Sweep/Vacuum the Floor: Keep the floor pristine by attending to any necessary sweeping or vacuuming.
• Clean and Organize Storage Space, Bookshelves and Games: Check storage space, bookshelves and games. Clean and organize as needed.
• Choose a Visible Spot and Greet Students: Position yourself where you can be easily seen by students entering the door. Welcome students with a friendly demeanor, creating a positive first impression.
• Remind Student Visitors to Sign In: Encourage students visiting the Villages Center to complete the sign-in process, fostering accountability and community engagement.
• Food and Drink Supplies: Maintain and organize food and drink supplies as needed.
• Lead Weekly Activity: Create and offer at least one weekly activity aligned with Villages Center objectives and interests.
• Be Knowledgeable about Villages Centers and Campus Resources: Familiarize yourself with media systems and supplies within Villages Centers. Additionally, learn about campus resources available on the Student Ambassador Villages Spaces Canvas page.
• Perform advanced, more responsible, and complex clerical and administrative duties supporting the work of the Villages team, as needed.

How to apply for the Student Ambassador position:

• Submit a FAFSA. All Villages Employees must qualify for Federal Work-Study.

Eligibility, Requirements, and other information:

• Maintain at least a 2.0 G.P.A., every quarter and cumulative.
• Enroll in at least 6 units per quarter, except for the summer quarter.
• Work up to 15 hours per week.
• Student Ambassadors must be eligible for Work-Study funds using FAFSA or the Dream Act application. They must have US citizenship, permanent residency, Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA with active employment authorization card [EAD]), or Temporary Protected Status (TPS with EAD) to work with De Anza's Guided Pathways.
• The hourly rate for Ambassadors starts at $19.80 per hour. Students are eligible for sick leave.

VAST Success Coaches must be eligible to work with De Anza's Guided Pathways program. Students who qualify for work-study funds are preferred. International students with an F1 visa must be authorized by the ISP Office. Success Coaches are responsible for providing one-on-one academic coaching, organizing and leading group study sessions and exam reviews, and building bridges between students, faculty, and campus resources.

• Financial Stability: You'll earn competitive pay at $21.62/hour for up to 9 hours per week. This flexible income helps support your education while maintaining work-life balance.

• Proof of previous coursework with satisfactory grades in your specialty area
• Maintain at least a 2.0 G.P.A., every quarter and cumulative.
• Enroll in at least 6 units per quarter, except for the summer quarter.
• Work up to 9 hours per week.
• VAST Success Coaches must be eligible to work with De Anza's Guided Pathways. Students who qualify for federal work-study funds are preferred. International students with an F1 visa must be authorized by the ISP Office.
• The hourly rate for Success Coaches starts at $21.62 per hour. Students are eligible for sick leave.
• Letter of recommendation from an instructor in a field in which you wish to work.

The Villages Center volunteer is a non-paid position, but it is still a quarterly commitment.

Villages Volunteers have lots of flexibility in their role, but the following list explains the core duties:

• Assist with event setup under staff direction.
• Greet visitors and distribute materials.
• Support student-centered activities.
• Engage with students informally.
• Work under ambassador guidance.

• Student Volunteers are non-paid positions and do not have to complete the FAFSA.
