"A Place for Us: Lesson Guides for Teaching Place-Based Oral History Using an Ethnic Studies Framework" would not have been possible without the dedication of English and Asian American Studies faculty member Francesca Caparas, who developed these materials based on her extensive experience implementing Ethnic Studies pedagogy through oral history instruction. The project also benefitted from the expertise of California History Center Director Lori Clinchard, whose oral history workshop materials are incorporated into the curriculum.
This project is an initiative of the Asian American and Asian Studies Department (ASAM) in partnership with the California History Center (CHC). It is part of a larger project, Asian American Storytelling in the Santa Clara Valley, funded by a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) grant, Voices of Silicon Valley: Using Heritage Discourse to Counteract Placelessness and Build Belonging.
