  • Directly supports humanizing and making department and division information and resources accessible to all.
  • Allows for deepening knowledge of high-impact practices
  • Builds community among the faculty and staff; fosters learning communities among employees
  • Meets employees where they are in terms of equity knowledge and provides opportunity for continued growth
  • Includes specialized topics, such as OER ZTC and AB 1705 and how enhanced pedagogical practices can improve learning and success

This initiative will be a collaborative effort between the Office of Professional Development, the Office of Instruction and the Online Education Center.

Plan Timeline

Winter 2024

Spring 2024

By the end of Spring 2024, conduct a campus-wide survey to determine professional development needs and interests for the 2024-2025 academic year. Seek support/commitment from senior leadership for classified employees and part-time faculty participation.


Possible categories for this survey include:


  • Equitable, High-Impact practices
  • Technology based
  • On/off campus resources
  • Effective pedagogical practices
  • Developing a community of practice



Fall 2024

  • Develop a year-long schedule of professional development activities based on survey responses.
  • Develop a cross-departmental calendar of Professional Development opportunities-- The calendar will include workshops by PD, OE, Library, Equity office, Student Services, etc.

Winter 2025

  • Provide professional development workshops and activities.
  • Conduct satisfaction surveys for each session.
  • Online Education Dept. to expand training on creating and storing videos for other departments.
  • In collaboration with Foothill College Online Education Dept., continue and expand on Regular & Substantive Interaction (RSI) training

Spring 2025

  • Provide professional development workshops and activities. Conduct satisfaction surveys for each session
  • Conduct an employee professional development interest survey for the 2025-2026 academic year
  • Expand the Calendar of PD opportunities to workshops provided by HR and ETS for more technical and foundational training
  • Explore collaboration between PD offices at FH and DA

Fall 2025

  • Develop a year-long schedule of professional development activities based on survey responses.
  • Provide professional development workshops and activities.
  • Conduct satisfaction surveys for each session.
  • Build a library of professional development videos-- (short videos)
  • Additional integrations for PD opportunities via @ONE and Vision Resource Center

Winter 2026

  • Provide professional development workshops and activities.
  • Conduct satisfaction surveys for each session.
  • Partner with Institutional Research to conduct "impact" studies on specific training (i.e. impact of RSI trainings on student success)

Spring 2026

  • Conduct an employee professional development interest survey for the 2025-2026 academic year.
  • Provide professional development workshops and activities. Conduct satisfaction surveys for each session.

Fall 2026

Develop a year-long schedule of professional development activities based on survey responses.
