Research Methods in Psychology

Course Description

This course is an introduction to the scientific method and research design as applied to psychological topics, including developing research questions, comprehensive literature review, generating a testable hypothesis, design considerations including ethics, data collection, analyzing and interpreting data, and reporting findings. Students will apply the steps of the scientific method as they design, conduct, analyze and report findings of their own psychological research project.

PSYC 2.03Z: Fully ONLINE. This is a lecture, laboratory class, meets online with SOME scheduled meetings as noted in the class listing. The rest of the class can be completed independently each week on the student's own time. Students must have access to a computer, the internet and an individual email address. We recommend a laptop or desktop computer to successfully complete the course; a tablet or phone may not be adequate for all assignments and tests. Most De Anza classes will use the Canvas course management system.
