About the Committee

Mission Statement

Old: The Technology Committee supports technology planning efforts and serves as a resource to the accreditation committee on matters related to technology. 

New:  The Technology Committee supports the innovative and effective use of technology to enhance teaching, learning, and institutional operations. It collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to identify needs, suggest solutions, and promote equitable access to digital tools and resources that support the college's mission and strategic objectives. 

Responsibilities and Structure

  • Reporting: Reports directly to College Council.
  • Charge:
    Develop the college Technology Plan
    Serve as the Accreditation Standard III.C 
    Advise and provide feedback on proposed technology projects
    Provide feedback on training needs to Office of Professional Development 
  • Collaboration: Represent the college on the Foothill-De Anza Educational Technology Advisory Committee (ETAC). Represent the college at the ETS Project Scheduling Group to help prioritize and guide the implementation of bond-funded technology projects for the college
  • Advocacy: Represent and advocate for the college during Foothill-De Anza Educational Technology Advisory Committee (ETAC)
  • Communication: Maintains the Technology Committee website
  • Structure: Operates under a Co-Chair, Tri-Chair, or Vice-Chair model, as determined by committee members.
  • Decision-Making: Decisions are made by consensus, or if consensus fails, by open majority vote.
  • Membership: As an advisory body to the College Council, the group sets no constituent group targets

Guiding Principles

  • Members will honor the agenda topics and times for the meeting. Agendas and materials will be distributed in advance, and all members are expected to prepare for and participate fully in the entire meeting.
  • Members will present issues completely, accurately, and honestly, acknowledging any biases, and will use authentic primary sources without withholding information selectively.
  • Members will encourage full and open participation from all attendees and will show respect for diverse opinions and viewpoints, demonstrating a willingness to listen.
  • Members will regulate their interpersonal behavior based on mutual respect and trust, avoiding personal attacks, physical and verbal intimidation, and the misuse of their authority.
  • Members will respect team discussions and consensus decisions, both within and outside of team meetings.
  • Members will communicate with their constituencies, providing clear and concise information while also gathering feedback.
  • Members are requested to serve a minimum of two years.
  • Each team member is empowered and responsible for understanding the mission, responsibilities and structure, and guiding principles and for upholding these standards.

Meetings

Date: First Thursday of every month during the academic year. Does not meet during first and last weeks of the quarter.
Time: 1:30-3 p.m.
Location: Zoom
