DRAWING AND PAINTING STUDIO
(Grades 6-10) (463*)
Students will learn and practice
classical and contemporary drawing and painting techniques. Students also will strengthen observational and creative thinking, sharpen rendering skills and
gain confidence in their artistic abilities. Lessons will include multipoint perspective, depicting shadow and light sources as
well as creating engaging content and narratives. This course is offered through the Euphrat Museum of Art.
Instructor: Lydia Sanchez is a visual artist and art instructor working in the Cupertino Union School District at West Valley and Muir Elementary Schools, and the Euphrat Museum of Art. She encourages children and youth to use their imaginations and express their own ideas about the world around them.

ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE: YOU AND THE ENVIRONMENT
(Grades 6-8 and 9-12) (574*)
This course is designed to increase students’ knowledge of today’s environmental challenges, while cultivating their scientific critical thinking skills. Students will explore thematic connections between a variety of science disciplines including biology, chemistry and physics. The course will provide a coherent and realistic picture of the applications of scientific concepts as they manifest in our environment, with a focus on population growth, natural resources and ecosystem dynamics.
Instructor: Veronica Galang has been
an educator for more than 20 years, teaching astronomy, biology, chemistry, nanotechnology and physics. She has a master’s degree in physics and enjoys helping students apply critical and analytical thinking to understand the relationships between diverse concepts.
