We extend our deepest gratitude to the dedicated tech crew who made the oral history recordings possible on short notice in the spring of 2024: Film & TV student Ji Won Jung, Video Systems Engineer Edward Breault of Academic Services & Learning Resources, and California History Center Director Lori Clinchard. Their expertise and commitment ensured that these stories were recorded with care and professionalism.

We also give special thanks Brandon Bailey from the Office of Communications for their guidance and expertise in developing this website and helping bring these oral histories to a wider audience.

Finally, we honor our interviewees—Connie Young Yu, Robert Ragsac, Tom Izu, and Susan Hayase—for sharing their time, experiences, and lifelong contributions to Asian American Studies in the community. Their voices are invaluable to this project.

This project is an initiative of the Asian American and Asian Studies Department (ASAM) in partnership with the California History Center (CHC). It is part of a larger project, Asian American Storytelling in the Santa Clara Valley, funded by a National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) grant, Voices of Silicon Valley: Using Heritage Discourse to Counteract Placelessness and Build Belonging

This project was also supported by the Intercultural/International Studies (IIS) Division, home to ASAM and host of the annual Ethnic Studies Summit, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Division, which houses the CHC and oversees the administration of the NEH grant.
