Reasons for Enhancing College Reading Skills

No Child Left Behind has directly influenced teaching to the test. Entering first year students have been taught to fake reading but not to comprehend and analyze text.

SAT Reading comprehension scores are lowest on record. 44% of underrepresented students account for this statistics.

Recent statistics from the US Department of Education illustrate a decline in adult literacy. Adults are experiencing difficulty with document literature, such as pamphlets and informational sheets used in everyday life.

31% of university graduates are unable to critically read and analyze advanced texts.
