Programs for Engagement 

De Anza College has a vibrant and engaged student body and a wide range of programs to support this engagement. Below are a few closely tied to the Political Science Department.

  • De Anza Associated Student Body - Represented by students for students, DASB develops leadership and provides opportunities to determine policies and budget/funding priorities for vital college programs.
  • FA PAC Internship Program - The Foothill-De Anza Community College District Faculty Association Political Action Committee (FA PAC) is an arm of the labor union representing all faculty in the Foothill-De Anza Community College District. In the Fall of 2012, the FA PAC began a student Internship Project dedicated to fighting for economic and social justice in local and statewide elections. 
  • Clubs and Inter Club Council (ICC) - Umbrella organizations which coordinates activities of the many clubs on campus, including ones that are politically-oriented.
  • Office of Equity, Social Justice and Multicultural Education- Central hub on campus in seeking to assist, provide resources to all community members in order to further the equitization of our community.
  • Vasconcellos Institute for Democracy in Action (VIDA) - Office on campus that organizes and coordinates service learning, civic engagement and social justice work in conjunction with students, programs/departments, instructors and staff.
  • VIDA Programs - VIDA offers a Certificate in Leadership and Social Change and sponsors or helps coordinate several other programs, including California Campus Camp, Community Service Learning, HEFAS, LEAD, Public Policy School and the VIDA Internship. 
  • VIDA Leadership Certificate - The 18-unit Certificate of Achievement in Leadership and Social Change prepares students to be community leaders, agents of change, and responsible participants in civic life in general.
  • VIDA - Community Service Learning - Learn about community service learning and civic engagement opportunities.
  • De Anza Public Policy School - Program where interns will learn the policy process and advocate on issues impacting them and community colleges.
  • VIDA Internships - We are committed to providing opportunities for students to build their skills and knowledge outside of the classroom.
