PRINTMAKING:    AN INDIRECT PROCESS

There are three categories of prints: You should know the processes and materials listed below unless otherwise indicated.

1 relief prints:

     woodcut

     linoleum block

     clay cut! A unique improvisation

2 intaglio prints:

     engraving

     etching

(aquatint, mezzotint, drypoint are described in text. You do not have to memorize these methods, just read about them in the chapter.)

3 “planographic” print methods:

(This term (planographic) is rarely heard. Instead, refer to and remember the 3 specific processes listed below .)

     lithograph

     screenprint, silkscreen
