Black Student Success Week
at De Anza College
This year's theme Building A Better Future Together!
California Community College is hosting daily online webinars for Black Student Success Week at 12-1pm with related activities during the week of April 22-26, 2-24. Please register here. The Office of Equity will host watch parties on days shown below.
De Anza College is hosting 2 local events to create visibility on the Black Student
experience at De Anza College and is part of a series of events in celebration of Black Student Success Week. We are collaborating and discussing ways to set up Black students for success. Here are the details of our Lunch and Learn Series: Black Student Success Week
Monday, April 22

Watch Party: CCC - Bachelor’s Degree Programs: Are They Delivering on the Dream for
Black Students? California Community College began granting bachelor’s degrees with
a CTE focus in 2015. Approximately 5 students (current and recent graduates) will
serve on the panel to discuss their participation in a CTE Bachelor’s Degree program
across the CCC system. The session will help viewers gain insight into student awareness,
access, program experience, and benefits upon completion. The session will explore
any obstacles/roadblocks the student may experience that may have impacted outcomes.

Watch Party: Empowering Black Excellence: Policies, Workforce Development, and Apprenticeships
for College-to-Career Success "Empowering Black Excellence" is a dynamic and insightful
workshop that will inspire, inform, and equip participants with the knowledge and
tools to make a difference in the lives of Black students through innovative practices.
This session delves into the intersection of policy, workforce development, and apprenticeship
programs as they pertain to Black students' educational and professional journey.

Student Voices Panel: “Meaningful Experiences in Marginalized Spaces” Students tell their stories of what
experiences both in and out of the classroom help or hinder their educational journey.
